Meet Ameen!
Ameen Khan | The Resell Review
Hello readers! My name is Ameen and in this series I'll be guiding you through the world of hype shoes and clothes. The fashion industry sure is confusing, but I'm here to help you stay on top of it.
To start, let’s break down what it means when there is hype on a particular item. Hype typically occurs when the desire for the product greatly outweighs the quantity, which is why many resellers like myself take advantage of this and secure as many hype items as possible. Hype items include many things: Jordans (specifically OG 1 Colorways), Yeezys, Supreme items, designer collaborations, or even artwork.
When these items are released, the stock is very low, which is why people use bots to get the best chance of copping (a common term in the sneaker community for obtaining the shoe). These bots are coded to run many simulations of a person trying to obtain the shoes by on their own. With hundreds of tasks and a strong bot, you can bypass the site's bot protection and purchase large quantities in a few seconds.
Once resellers secure these shoes and they sell out, what happens to people who wanted the shoes for themselves? They have to go to third party marketplaces like StockX and Goat and pay the resale value. The resell value is the price of the shoes after they are released. For example, when Travis Scott released his Jordan 1 collaboration, they were only $170 but now the shoes cost ~$1,800. Knowing what shoe is going to resell well, have low stock, or simply be highly sought after can make you a lot of money.
Now that you know more about the resell/hype item industry I'm going to review some of the biggest shoe/clothing releases for this week and discuss my personal attempts at getting them. Here's what we got coming up:
July 9th
Supreme will be releasing presumably for the last time during this Spring/Summer 2020 season. The most hyped items to get are from the Supreme x Vans collection. These shoes will do well along with other items.
Resell Predictions:
1) Mesh Crusher, Black or Silver. Bucket hats fly now-a-days. Retail; 48$ Resell; 75$+ Similar hats going for a good bit of money.
2) Vans Sk8-Hi Blue. Smaller sizes will be superior. Retail; 110$ Resell; 140$+ These have very minimal branding, but quality of material is high. It's also been a while since we saw a Vans collaboration.
3) Vans Slip On Blue Again, smaller sizes will be superior. Retail; 98$ Resell; 110$+ These have no Supreme branding, so small sizes are the only things worth getting.
July 11th
The Jordan 1 Retro High Light Smoke Grey will be dropping on footsites (Footlocker, Finishline, Champs, Footaction, and Eastbay) and they are 100% worth copping. This colorway is very similar to the very hyped UN/LA Jordan 1 which has a current value of 1.6k
Resell Predictions:
With a retail price of $170, I can see these pairs sitting at around $300 after the release. Always remember for Jordan 1s, the small sizes or really big sizes do the best.
The Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN Bone will be released as well and they are exclusive to Yeezysupply.com. These are also a must cop as the stock will be low and these are the nicest colorway of this model.
- Retailing at $220 these are on the higher end but if you compare these to the orange/black colorway that was released, I believe that these will range from $400 to $500.
Those are the most notable upcoming drops, and of course you can shoot me an email ([email protected]), insta DM (@ameen.khan03), or message me on Discord at AmeenK#0001 if you would like more information or want to start reselling.
